Dr. Brent Larson received his dental degree from the University of Minnesota, completed a GPR and practiced general dentistry in the Air Force. He received his Certificate and Master’s degree in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina. He spent three years as an orthodontist in the U.S. Air Force before joining the staff and faculty at the Mayo Clinic. At Mayo he served as Program Director in Orthodontics and received several “Teacher of the Year” awards. Dr. Larson left Mayo for full-time private practice in Rochester, Minnesota, where he continues to practice one day a week. Later, he returned to full-time academics as Associate Professor and Director of Orthodontics at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Larson has written many scientific articles, contributed book chapters lectured around the country and the world on advances in clinical orthodontics and the application of technology to improve patient care. He is a Past-President of the Minnesota Association of Orthodontists, the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists and currently is serving as the President of the American Association of Orthodontists in 2018.
